Appearance: It has shiny, dark green, leathery leaves that are compound and arranged in a palmate manner. The plant tends to grow upright and can reach a height of up to 4 to 6 feet indoors.
-
Care: China doll plants prefer bright, indirect light but can tolerate some degree of shade. They thrive in well-draining soil that is kept evenly moist during the growing season. They are sensitive to overwatering and prefer slightly drier conditions during the winter months.
-
Temperature and Humidity: They prefer average room temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C) and appreciate moderate humidity. Regular misting or placing the pot on a tray filled with pebbles and water can help increase humidity.
-
Pruning and Maintenance: Prune China doll plants regularly to maintain their compact shape and encourage bushy growth. They are susceptible to spider mites, so keep an eye out for any signs of infestation.
-
Propagation: They can be propagated from stem cuttings, which should be taken in spring or early summer. Rooting hormone can aid in successful propagation.
-
Toxicity: China doll plants are considered toxic to pets if ingested, so they should be kept out of reach of cats and dogs.
Overall, Radermachera sinica is a beautiful and relatively low-maintenance houseplant that adds a tropical touch to indoor spaces.
If placed outdoors, under shade.
Size: 2.7-3 meters, comes in regular nursery pot.
